Elfen Lied

Length:13 episodes

Plot
The main character Koda moves to the town where his cousin lives to go to school. He has not seen his cousin or the town for years, after visiting one summer before his Dad and little sister died. Koda and his cousin Yuka find a strange girl naked on the beach, unable to say anything but "Nyuu" and they take her in. Despite how innocent "Nyuu" (what they name the girl) seems, she is actually a psychopathic killer with telekinetic powers who has lost her memory. She is a"Diclonius"- a genetically mutated human being distinguishable by her telekinetic powers, and two horns on her head.
Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss"

Music/ Opening/ Closing
I like the animation for the opening theme because it's like a huge tribute to Gustav Klimt (see above). The music isn't half bad either. I didn't really ever listen to the full closing song so I don't know if it was good or not.

Characters
Koda
I'm not sure that I really liked Koda. When he wasn't being clumsy and stupid, he was crying. I know he went through a lot, but to be honest- I would've appreciated if he stopped being such a puss.

Yuka
I hated Yuka. She was whiny and didn't have a life beyond crying about the fact that Koda didn't like her as much as she liked him. I felt like she deserved a good punch in the face

Lucy/Nyuu
Yet another anime character with a personality disorder. YAYY. Lucy is a psychopath who breaks out of a facility just for Diclonii, and then gets shot in the head and her personality splits. Sometimes she's the cute, innocent, and simple Nyuu, and other times she's the vengeful psychopath Lucy. I actually really like her because as Nyuu she's so adorable, and as Lucy she's a complete badass. I know she kills a lot of innocent people, and disassembles Nana- another diclonius, but there was a reason that she started killing people. Not that one reason justifies popping people's heads and limbs off as if they were dolls, but... yeah.

Mayu
She's a homeless run-away who has a cute little puppy. She keeps getting into situations, and Koda and Yuka take her in after she is injured and calls them from the hospital. She's a pretty decent character with an upsetting backstory.

Nana/ Number 7
Nana is the only good Diclonius in the show. She was also imprisoned in the same facility as Lucy and is sent to track her down. She does everything for her "Papa", the lead researcher of the facility who has led her to believe that he is her father. She prides herself on being a good girl. She loses her limbs in a fight with Lucy, and the head researcher is told to kill her because she is no longer of use. However he rescues her. Throughout the show she doesn't really kill anyone- not that I remember at least. She's a good person, despite being tortured, and kept in a facility all her life.

Controversial Stuff
Boobs, blood and gore galore. Seriously. The Diclonii can't keep their clothing on for very long. The opening and closing animation is full of nude shots of Lucy. Plus, blood sprays everywhere. It's not like the people just fall down dead in this show. They are ripped apart. There's tons of blood, and guts. I think the worst part is when Nana loses her limbs.
However, it wasn't as bad as some of the other shows I've seen... and I could watch this mostly because it was just drawing. If it was fake blood and real people I would've been more willing to turn it off. I've watched Supernatural episodes that made me 3x more squeamish.
So yeah- If blood and boobs aren't your cup of tea, then.. don't watch this. Eurgh. Just got a mental image of that.

Overall
Have we established that I'm not quite right in the head by this point? Yes? No?
Well, I  liked it despite the blood, guts and gore. I thought it was intelligent and well-thought out. I was a little apprehensive when i first heard of it- because i did hear that it was really bloody. It wasn't that bad... but I already mentioned that the fact that it was animated, and therefore didn't affect me as much. The characters, for the most part were kind of annoying. Also I didn't like how they didn't really address why Yuka liked Koda so much other than he was good at things. We didn't find out much about Yuka at all, and she was horrible and two-dimensional. She was either crying, or slapping Koda across the face all the time.
The storyline was a bit off.. I don't know exactly what it was, but yeah. Also- I didn't like how it showed how Lucy became how she was, but all the other Diclonius except for Nana were awful killing machines.
I liked it, but I'm not a super fan. It ended really abruptly because the manga wasn't finished yet, and so they just ended it, insinuating that Lucy came back for Koda.
Star Rating: ***/*****
Abrupt ending, little explanation for certain things, annoying whiny characters, and excessive gore,  drag down an anime that I really liked overall.

Angel Sanctuary

Length: 3 episodes--> at least that's all I could find...

PLOT
Setsuna Mudou is a normal teenage boy- Yeah Right. I'm lying. He's supposedly the reincarnation of the Angel Alexiel, who apparently led a rebellion against God before or after lucifer- I don't know. Oh, and it get's worse. The kid is in love with his biological sister Sarah, who's in love with him too. Even though it's weird and creepy and only can result in mutant babies. ANYWAY. There's a whole bunch of supernatural beings that are trying to make Setsuna "wake up" and become Alexiel- all so he/she (Alexiel is a girl) can fulfill their wishes.
YEAH. IT'S PRETTY MESSED UP.

Music
It wasn't really  remarkable, I didn't notice it for the most part.

Characters
Setsuna Mudou (Alexiel)
He's Mr. Crazy-pants. He's in love with his sister Sara, and will do anything to protect her from others.  His parents are divorced, and his mother says the reason for that is to keep him away from Sara. He's constantly flipping out because what he's doing is so wrong... but he can't deny it. I absolutely hated the voice actor because it was really odd listening to someone named Setsuna- who sounded like he was from New York. He's constantly having issues, and subsequently destroys Tokyo when something happens to Sarah. Oh, Plus he's the reincarnated version of Alexiel- who's kind of awesome . The only time that we see her in the series, she is graceful and charming.
Sarah Mudou
Setsuna's pretty, and equally as crazy sister. If she wasn't as in love with her brother as he was with her, some of this mess could've been avoided. She's pretty helpless and keeps getting taken away from Setsuna.
Kira
The series was so short I couldn't get his name down pat, but- he was the really awesome incarnation of the 7 bladed sword of heaven. He was always looking out for Setsuna, even though he was really waiting for Alexiel with all the rest of them.
Roziel
Alexiel's twin brother. He was in love with Alexiel, but we get the impression that the only reason that he loves her is because she's a reflection of him. He's really intent on reviving Alexiel- so she can't deny his love.

Animation
The Animation was pretty good. It was in an older, more masculine style, that is not necessarily bad. My only problem was with their hands, which were drawn severely out of proportion with the rest of their bodies, and looked awkward.

Controversial Stuff
Not one but two incestual relationships in this anime- so it was a little off-putting.

Overall:
Strangely enough, I kind of liked it. I just felt cheated that it ended so soon. I know it was wrong in all senses of being wrong but I couldn't help thinking that if she wasn't his sister- this could have not given me the creeps as much. The animation was decent, the characters were ok but the music was

Because A Little Snow Fairy Sugar- for all it's wholesomey goodness was way too annoying to beat this.

A Little Snow Fairy Sugar

Length: 15 Episodes
Summary: The show is about this girl named Saga who meets a snow fairy in-training named Sugar. Sugar's mission in the human world is to find a "twinkle" and become a full-fledged snow fairy like her mother.
Review:
It sounds cute and all, but to be honest-it was made for very young children who wouldn't mind the fact that it doesn't make sense. Saga is the only one who can see the season fairies and half the time she doesn't even try and cover up the fact that she's speaking with them in public. It was so odd, because you just picture this girl walking along talking to herself- kind of like Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. Also all the female voice actors have extremely annoying voices, especially Saga and Sugar. It's like they ingested a full tank of helium between them before doing the show. Saga's character pisses me off so much. She's constantly getting pissed at everyone for messing up her plans, even if they are being nice to her. Her boss lets her out five minutes early, and she starts complaining that it's messing up her plans. OI. So obviously when this fairy comes out of nowhere and starts making her act like she has schizophrenia, she gets extremely pissed off.
Sugar is as neurotic as Saga- she's constantly demanding Saga's attention, and gets upset if Saga pretends that she's not there. Apparently, in the show, waffles are a code-word for crack, because I'm fairly certain that Sugar is addicted to them. Also WAFFLES! is Sugar's battle cry....yup- it's code for crack. The drawing is so cute that you want to just cuddle Sugar forever and ever- that is until she opens her mouth. Then you just want to put her in the freezer and close the door.
Also the romantic relationships are just creepy for the most part. The Elder Fairy is in love with this girl fairy named Ginger, and he is really old. Like- he was probably old when this girl was born- that's how old he is. He's constantly schluffing off the apprentice fairies so he can go chase her around to try and confess his creepy pedophile love. Another bout of creepiness is when the main character meets this guy who plays the bear pianist in a play they see. When they ask him how his tea is, he responds- "the taste is a little stiff". Maybe I'm just a pervert- or that was a sexual innuendo. IT GETS WORSE. He says that he doesn't even remember saying it, and that it must have been something he said off the top of his head.
The nemesis is a rich girl named Greta with the most annoying laugh ever. I want to punch a puppy everytime I hear it. I don't understand why this rich girl wants to make Saga jealous of her constantly. All of her taunting and primping goes right over Saga's head, and it seems to frustrate Greta even more.
The only good thing about the show is the moments of pure cuteness. There's a part in one episode where all these little kids get together and start making music in the park, and it's really cute.
I give this show */*****
